Easy Cooking- Paper Dosa

South Indian Food lovers, this is your chance to learn the easiest ways how to make Paper Dosa at home. Make this yummy dish on a sunday morning for your family and see the smile on their faces.

ENJOY

Ingredients

1/2 cup raw rice
3/4 cup urad dal
1/2 cup rice flour
salt to taste
ghee for greasing and cooking

For Serving

coconut chutney

sambhar

Method

  1. Wash and soak the raw rice and urad dal separately for 3 to 4 hours and drain well.
  2. Combine the rice, urad dal and rice flour and blend in a mixer to a smooth paste using enough water to get a batter of thick pouring consistency.
  3. Add the salt and mix well.
  4. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it lightly using ghee.
  5. Sprinkle a little water on the tava (griddle) and wipe it off gently using a cloth.
  6. Pour a ladleful of the batter on it and spread it in a circular motion to make a 225 mm. (9”) diameter thin circle.
  7. Smear a little ghee over it and along the edges and cook on a high flame till the dosa turns brown in colour and crisp.
  8. Fold over to make a semi-circle or a roll.
  9. Repeat with the remaining batter to make 9 more dosas.
  10. Serve immediately with coconut chutney and sambhar.

As you all can see in the pictures, the plate has Mashed potatoes as well. So if you want you can make the "ALOO KA BHARTA" and keep it in the centre of your dosa that you prepared or you could also keep it in the plate along with the other items.
Totally upto you and your taste.

We were helped by our moms to make the batter. BEST MOMS EVERRR :D
BUT IF YOU WANT TO SURPRISE YOUR FAMILY OR YOUR DAD FOR FATHER'S DAY  YOU CAN ALSO USE THE MIXTURE THAT IS AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET.
HAPPY COOKING

We hope you enjoy these recipes we post on the blog. Its not easy to make such tempting dishes but we do it only for y'all.

Bharawan da Dhaba- Amritsar Food Stories

Bharawan Da Dhaba, since 1912, is a dhaba/restaurant in Amritsar, Punjab.
With the delicious indian vegetarian food that is served here, we had a lot of fun reviewing it.
The food was amazing and yes indeed it was full of butter, ghee and calories. But you are in punjab and all this is like a ritual.

Go down to have a look at the yummy food we had.

These are served at every table before hand only. The pickle was fresh and tasty.

THE MENU. LOOKS QUIET APPEALING.

Well, obviously if you are in amritsar you've gotta drink lassi bro.
The Meethi Lassi here was yum yum. Ofcourse it was full of thick Malai. But that's the beauty of Amritsar ki Lassi.

WE ORDERED-

1 Kadhai Paneer
2 Chana Masala
3 Dal Makhani
4 Baingan Bharta
5 Plain Naan
6 Lacha Parathaa

So, the food was amazing. Usually all these are the items that we consider restaurant food if we have vegetarian. But the Kadhai Paneer was exceptionally good with the spice and the tangyness in it.
Chana Masala and Dal Makhani were average. We may have eaten better Dal in Delhi than in Amritsar.
Honestly, even we are shocked but the Baingan Bharta turned out to be the dish of the day. If you pick up a piece of you roti and dip it into Baingan Bharta and bring it close to your nose, OMG, the aroma. It was so nice. Brought back some memories of you playing in farms and stuff like that.
I mean we were mesmerized. A must try if you go there.

All in all, the food was decent and the service was quick enough. Though the place was crowded but there was no chaos or people hitting each other's elbows and all. Spacious, airy and systematic place. If you are in Amrtisar do go here and enjoy the brilliant food.

Let us know if you would like to add something in the review.

Shahi Paneer, with love from Ma

Can anything ever beat home made food? NOTHING AT ALL.
Our moms are our favorite cooks. And some dishes are related to our childhood, whenever we eat it we remember those days when we were small and young and nothing worried us.

So, did Nostalgia hit you? We know. Happens.
Here is one of ours childhood dish that brings back so many memories.

And we are here to share the recipe with you. Enjoy.

So, below we have steps, ingredients, method and pictures depecting all this. Just to make it easier for y'all :)

  • Cut the Paneer into cubes.

  • Cut 2 bell pepper and few corriander leaves.

  • In the mixer add 5 tomatoes, ginger and garlic and blend it to make a paste. The paste is not too thick. Medium consistency.

  • Add Almond and cashew and make their paste in the mixer.

  • Add fresh cream in the mixer and blend it to medium consistency.

  • MASALA-
  1. SHAHI PANEER MASALA- 2 table spoon
  2. DRIED FENUGREEK LEAVES- 1 table spoon
  3. RED CHILLI POWDER- 2 table spoon
  4. HALDI (TURMERIC) POWDER- 1 table spoon
  5. GARAM MASALA- just a pinch of it
  6. SALT TO TASTE
  7. DRIED RED CHILLI- 2
  8. CUMIN SEEDS- pinch of it

  • All the ingredients should be assembled in advance so that there is no chaos while cooking.

  • Turn on the gas and pour oil after the pan is a little hot. And then let the oil get a little hot as well.

  • When the oil is hot enough, add cumin seeds and dried red chillies.

  • Just after 5-10 seconds add the tomato puree and leave it to dry up for atleast 5-7 minutes.

  • When the gravy starts leaving the oil from the corners, add red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt to taste.

  • After this, put a lid on and let the masalas mix with the gravy for the next 3-4 minutes.
  • Then add the bell peppers slowly.
  • You can observe the change of color in the gravy.

  • Now, add shahi paneer masala ito the gravy and now your gravy is thick enough and looks red and yummy. Like in the picture.

  • Then we add our almond and cashew paste into the gravy. And just after mixing it we add the fresh cream as well. The kitchen will be filled with an amazing aroma. Agreed?
  • And now the color will become lighter and the gravy will become smoother.
  • Stir well.

  • Finally, add one cup of water. To lower down the consistency of the gravy. But not too much of water.

  • Add paneer
  • Mix slowly

  • Just before switching off the gas, add dried fenugreek leaves and stir.

  • Well, we believe in presentation, so for garnishing we used corriander leaves.
  • We ate shahi paneer with Rice. You can eat it with anything you like.

  • THE LUNCH IS SERVED, MY CHILD :D

Honestly, this dish is for the die hard foodie who does not really care about his/her diet. LOL
Go ahead, cook it and eat it and make it for your mom. Its easy so we all can cook it. Share your views in the comment section.

The serivice is quick and the quantity is oh so much. IF you order one naan that is more than enough for two people.

The Naans were utterly amazing.
A tip for the health concious people- FORGET YOUR DIETING :P

There are too many Rao hotels and dhabas on the road and on both the sides. So, this is how Old Rao Hotel looks and you can anyways locate it because of so many cars standing outside its premise.

This place is so affordable and amazing that we give it 10/10.
No doubt about it.
THE FOOD. THE QUICK SERVICE. THE ATMOSPHERE(DHABA STYLE).
