NEW MENU AT AKA RESTAURANT

We recently went to AKA and tried their new menu. It is an all-day casual dining experience located in Worli near Nehru Planetarium. It has an outdoor dining area as well. Inside there’s a long bar, bright interiors and colorful printed sofas. Also, you will find printed fabrics on the walls, which gave the restaurant a very vibrant but chic and elegant look.

AKA’s menu has a set of dishes where each dish is a version of European classic, Italian, Mediterranean and so on.

Since we went there for lunch we sat in their indoor cozy sitting area with dim lights and a chill environment.
Since it was lunchtime, it wasn’t very crowded.

We wanted to try their molecular cocktails so we ordered both the cocktails they had. Custom-made and The performer. Loved the smoky taste in the vodka based performer cocktails and the whiskey based custom-made both.

For starters we had, cheese balls and chicken wings. Both the dishes tasted as delicious as they looked. The tangy chicken wings were served with a cheesy sauce and salad. The cheesy sauce was delicious and tasted good with the wings.

We ordered two pizzas, chorizo and mascarpone pizza and four-cheese pizza. The pizzas were thin crust and the crust was crispy and tasted delicious. Spicy chorizo, a Spanish pork sausage and mascarpone, an Italian cream cheese complemented each other very well.
Four-cheese pizza on the other hand is made of Cheddar, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Ricotta and truffle-oil. The pizza does not have any gravy on the base, hence is a bit dry. And the taste of cheese gets stronger towards the edges. If you have that taste for cheese, you will love this pizza. So did we!

Then we ordered pasta, meatball pasta and penne pasta with white sauce.
Meatball pasta was a sheer delight with hand chopped lamb and tomato sauce in spaghetti pasta. Meatballs were juicy and soft. We loved every bit of it.
White sauce pasta with corn toppings was also scrummy. The white sauce was very creamy and was on point!

In desserts, we really enjoyed and indulged in the Ecuadorian chocolate slab, Chocolate Gianduja mousse that came with chocolate shell, white chocolate bits and chocolate sauce. We also tried their AKA tiramisu which came with coffee tuile. Coffee tuile was extremely scrumptious and tasted great when dipped in tiramisu. But tiramisu otherwise was disappointing.

All in all, it’s a great place to enjoy a casual evening with friends where you can relish appetizing European cuisine in a swanky and chic ambience. Their new menu looked great to us, and I’m sure you will enjoy it too!

YAUATCHA'S DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL

Yauatcha is celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival with a limited edition menu dedicated to zongzi, pyramid-shaped sticky rice dumplings, alongside a dessert and an exclusive cocktail.
The Dragon Boat Festival, a unique celebration dating back 2,000 years, is a time to eat sticky rice, drink rice wine, race dragon boats and indulge in festivities with friends and family.

We were served with some really delectable authentic dishes like sticky rice with prawns, sticky rice with vegan duck and what not.

The newly introduced zongzi dishes include different fillings of edamame and vegetarian duck, pork belly and shiitake mushroom among others. Wine soaked water chestnut and mango cake with Sauvignon sorbet and the Citrus Spritz cocktail is also a part of the new limited edition menu.

All the dishes that were served to us were super yummy.

One can go here with their family and have a beautiful and relaxing dinner. Their food is fresh, delish and everything that shows their authenticity.

ALL ABOUT THE HUNGRY TRAVELLER FOOD TRUCK

The newest trend that has entered in Gurgaon or if i may call, Gurugram are the beautiful and quirky Food Trucks. These cute little trucks are seen parked at several places and are just a treat to the eye. One such truck that has just launched itself in the market is THE HUNGRY TRAVELLER.

Its quite a quirky looking food truck with a wide menu to order from and a lovely combination of everything we love.

They had started 5 days before when i visited them and they had such a huge rush there and that too on a sunday evening where people usually decide to chill at home.

Below is a small review about the food we had :-

WHITE SAUCE PASTA

To be honest, this pasta was beyond amazing. It was just too good. The flavors were bang on and the quantity was as good as the quality. Priced perfectly and tasted just soo nice. A sure try.

BUTTER CHICKEN WRAP

OK, not exaggerating but this was again a gorgeous dish. The wrap was delectable and the filling was droolworthy. Chicken lovers this is heaven for y'all.

Then we had cold coffee and oreo shake. Both of these were just too tasty. Good drinks to compliment the food

PRAWN TEMPURA SUSHI

I am a die hard sushi lover and this one surely impressed to a very high extent. Gooey, perfect and yummy, this sushi was amazing. Highly recommended

GRILLED CHICKEN BURGER

Not a burger buff but oh well, i loved this one.

Full Marks to this huge burger because it was so yum. That patty was flavorful and the egg, veggies and everything else complimented each other so nicely. A lovely burger that you cannot miss.

CHICKEN LASAGNA

Gooey, Ambrosial and Heavenly
Three words that can describe this dish. Perfectly balanced and very yum.

OREO WAFFLES
Crunchy and heavenly waffles that can make an gloomy day into a happy one.
You surely cant miss these.

CHICKEN CALZONE
**FAVORITE DISH ALERT**

Yes, this was my favorite dish of all and i cant even express in words how brilliant this dish was. Too good to handle and too good to resist.
Best calzones ive ever had.
HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

PANCAKES

Perfectly made and very delicious.

FOUR SEASONS PIZZA

A very gooey and cheesy pizza with loads of chicken and sausages and what not.
Being a hard core non vegetarian, this one is a must try.

Also their cute and quirky box is designed by them only and it actually is quite innovative.

To end the blog post all i can say is being a new comer this food truck is doing wonders and i for sure know that they will go a long way. Its impossible to not serve a bad dish but they did change this myth by serving me some brilliant dishes.

To experience their food, visit them.

DINNER AT GRANDMAMA'S CAFE

Grandmama’s cafĂ©, one more foodie bolt hole in Kamala Mills. The very first thing as you enter the restaurant, rather arrive at the entrance of the restaurant is, how cute it is and will totally make you miss your grandmama’s place. With cute interiors to floral walls to the chairs, everything is so adorable.

Even though we went there on a weekday, which is on a Thursday night, the place was fully packed, which is a good message. Also, people of all age groups were enjoying themselves there. Youngsters, middle aged people and older people too.

They had a vast menu from the kitchens of Italian Grandmamas and Bombay Grandmamas and Parsi Grandmamas and much more.

We started our special foodie journey with Grandmama’s Meatballs which were chicken meatballs tossed in homemade tomato sauce with almond flakes and smoked paprika. The meatballs were perfectly cooked and the flavorsome tangy sauce made the juicy and soft meatballs so delectable. They will definitely make you miss your grandmama’s delectable food.

Then we ordered Hummus – Flavored Chickpea paste with paprika, vegetables and pita. Hummus came with a piece of broccoli, few stripes of carrot and zucchini. It was an average dish. Not the best hummus I’ve had.

Gambas Al Ajillo – Prawns with garlic, olive oil, chilli and basil was very succulent.

Next was, Grandmama’s roast chicken – classic roast chicken, spring vegetables served with rosemary mash and pan jus. As the name suggests, it was a classic and so tender and juicy. It actually tasted like the home-made delicious roast chiecken cooked by grandmamma.

Then it was time was pizza. For vegetarian we had Grandmama’s special pizza which was cheese pizza topped with sundried tomatoes, olives, onions and bell peppers. For non-veg we ordered Pepperoni Pizza, the classic Italian pizza. Both the pizzas were so appetizing.

We ordered Classic Prawn Cocktail, which is poached prawns tossed in sharp brandy mayo garnished with coriander croutes. It was served in a cocktail glass and was presented very well. The sauce was so good and tasted amazing with the coriander croutes and lettuce.

Arancini balls are deep fried risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella, served with mango mayo. Mango mayo didn’t go very well with the balls and they were a bit bland. I would say passable.

Grandmama’s Home-made Ravioli, which is Pumpkin and sage ravioli in dill cream cheese sauce, was an average dish. Although the cheese sauce was brilliant.

Wild mushroom risotto – which is creamy mushroom risotto served with brown butter. We added chicken to it. This was the best risotto I’ve had.  So delicious, creamy and cooked with perfection.

We then ordered Grandmama’s chicken wings – Pressure-cooked chicken wings tossed in homemade sweet and spicy sauce. They were served in a tiny bi-cycle . The way it was presented was really cool and funky. It was also very delectable and creamy.

All American burger – Juicy tenderloin patty, topped with crispy bacon and melted cheddar enclosed in a bun. This burger was heavenly. It could have been cheesier though.

Then coming to desserts, they had various pastries, we ordered a red velvet cheese cake, a chocolate ecstasy pastry and a mud cake pastry. Red velvet cake was not extraordinary. It tasted fine.
Chocolate ecstasy pastry and mud cake pastry were both good and chocolaty.

We then tried their homemade waffles and we added nutella to it. Waffles were just perfect and tasted amazing with nutella.
We also had their chocochip pancakes with salter caramel, which were so soft and delicious.

We also ordered some cocktails. Anti-Ageing Caipiroska which was sweet tangy and perfect, a Grandmama’s mixed melon sangria and a blue lagoon cooler which was also sweet and sour and was very refreshing.

We told you, the menu is pretty huge, and we wanted to try a lot of things.

We will want to try their Rajma chawal, Dhansak, Keema pao, khichdi, milkshakes and of course their breakfast menu, and a lot more!

We will be heading to Grandmama’s very soon again to try some of their other dishes from their lovely menu.

If you are looking to have a gala time with your family, go to Grandmama’s cafĂ© for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You will love every bit of it!
